South Tahoe High School

South Tahoe High School is a public secondary school in South Lake Tahoe, California
that is part of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District. The school mascot is the Viking, and the school's colors are blue and gold.
South Tahoe High School has an average attendance of 1,300 students and features an open-air campus. In 2004, the school underwent a massive renovation which featured the installation of heated sidewalks and a renovation of the offices. Recently, South Tahoe High School was honored as a "top 1000" secondary school
in the United States by Newsweek Magazine.
In June 2007, the school had to be surrounded by firefighters to avoid being burned down in the devastating Angora fire.

which is the large school level. South Tahoe has had success in boys' soccer and girls' cross country recently. The boys soccer team has won two state championships (2003 and 2005)in 2003 the team finished ranked 19th in the nation and its third straight Region title in 2006 and the girls cross country team finished in second place. The boys tennis team has reached the regional semi-finals in three consecutive years.
