. It started in what is now Mahoney Middle school and was moved to its current campus. The School is waiting on plans for a new school, since budget was voted down in 2007. The citizens approved a renovation in a 2010 referendum.

Mascot

South Portland High School is host to their mascot the Red Riot. He stands for the school's pride, sportsmanship, ambition, and potential (or could stand for a bloody civil revolt, aka a riot. Other city mascots include the Marauders and the Raiders).
