The Academy of Research and Medical Sciences at South Cobb High School

The Academy of Research and Medical Sciences at South Cobb High School is a rigorous and selective program for students interested in the research and healthcare fields, created in 2001. The Magnet Coordinator from 2001- 2007 was Mr. Ryan Fuller. The program changed its name from The Academy of Mathematics and Medical Science to its current name, The Academy of Research and Medical Science. The Magnet Coordinator from 2007-2009 was Dr. Joanne Lee. She returned from retirement to assist the magnet program during a time of need. The current magnet coordinator is Dr. Erika Ijames who is also a former senior research teacher.

Blue Eagle Marching Band

The Blue Eagle Marching Band is the school's marching band program, led by Band Director Zac Cogdill. In January 2009, the marching band traveled to Washington, D.C.

Freshman Transition Academy

In the fall semester of 2011, rising ninth graders coming to South Cobb High School will enter the new Freshman Transition Academy. They will attend to their school day in a separate building from the rest of the student body, a "school within a school," for classes, for attendance, and for lunch. Students will also be required to wear uniforms. The purpose of the Freshman Transition Academy is to promote a sense of belonging, teacher-student relationships, improved academic performance, and improved attendance rates.
