Education

Sogeri is home to two secondary schools. Sogeri National High School, one of four state-run Year 9–12 schools in Papua New Guinea, which was founded in 1944 by Australian troops

Agriculture

The surrounding region grows lettuces, tomatoes, sweet potato, coffee, cattle and poultry. It receives significantly more rainfall than Port Moresby.
