History

The station was originally built in 1872 when Drammenbanen opened. Skøyen became an important station when the Oslo Tunnel passing under central Oslo was opened in 1980. With the opening of the tunnel and the closure of Oslo West, Skøyen became the only railway station in Western Oslo. It has been rebuilt several times and in 1998 was converted to four tracks when the new Flytoget
