Advanced Diploma in Music

The Advanced Diploma in Music programme takes three years (six semesters) to complete. Each year is divided into two semesters. This course prepare students for the Bachelor of Music (Hons) course which lasts one year.

 course is focused around the student’s principal study, and places an equal importance on academic and practical work. A range of music electives may be chosen in the second and third year. These electives will also contribute to the credit requirements for graduation. Students gain performing experience with ensembles which include Chinese Ensemble, String Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble
Concert band

Visits are made by international artistes to give masterclasses, workshops and specialist support.

Credit Accumulation Scheme

The scheme is based on modules, which builds qualifications leading to the Advanced Diploma certificate. All modules are credit-rated to allow recognition and recording of student achievement.

A module represents 100 hours of structured student study. Successful completion of each module gains 10 credits.

The structure is as follows:-
  • Foundation Year 120 credits
  • 2nd Year 120 credits
  • 3rd Year 120 credits

Professional Artistic Diploma

Students will be assessed for LCM examinations leading to Associate of the London College of Music (ALCM), the Licentiateship of the London College of Music (LLCM), and the Fellowship of the London College of Music (FLCM). These LCM Diplomas provide international recognition of excellence in performance that is internationally recognized. Successful students are able to put the initials ALCM, LLCM or FLCM after their name.
