 with an installed electricity generating capability of 1,040 MW during peak hours. It has the capability to take in 940 MW of electricity off the grid and storing it by pumping water to a higher elevation dam from a lower elevation dam. The low cost off peak electricity is stored in this manner to be used during peak demand hours of the day. Its design aim is to lessen the need for thermal stations during peak hours thus reducing CO2 emissions. When completed in 2011, it is going to become Iran's first Pumped-storage hydroelectricity
