The show has been a mainstay in Buffalo radio since Tom Ragan and Ted Shredd paired in 1994.
Shredd and Ragan have received national recognition from Radio and Records, the industry's leading trade publication, as nominees for Alternative Rock Show of the Year for 2003, 2004 and 2005 and Active Rock Show of the Year in 2006.

Format

The Shredd and Ragan Show is a four-hour comedy talk radio show that covers everything from politics to sports, music, movies, the internet and people making news. The show often deals with what's going on around Upstate New York including anything relating to the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.

History

The show got its start in 1994 when Tom Ragan, then on WGR

In an often told on-air story, Shredd and Ragan explain how they went across the street to a staff meeting, looked around cluelessly, and then realized they were the only ones from the current airstaff sitting in the room. Shredd and Ragan are also the first to speak with T.O upon his arrival to the Buffalo Bills.

  • James - program director. Born in Buffalo. Formerly known as Evil Jim, he worked his way up from show intern to show producer to PD of WEDG. Known for his impersonations of George Bush, Pat O'Brien, and Jeff Garcia.

  • Lortab Zombie - A prematurely retired roofing contractor who has on occasion been known to take the painkiller "Lortab",although he claims not to be an addict his nickname suggests otherwise.Lortab Zombie came in second in the second annual "Barbaric Cup 2009" to winner Brotha Pope.Winner of third annual "Barbaric Cup 2010" Which now entitles him to be known as King Lortab Zombie.
  • Racing John - Shredd and Ragan often manipulate the message of his calls to expose his nature. As of early 2009, he is referred to as Racing John because of his participation in Shredd and Ragan's go-karting events.Racing John is a truck driver by trade and often calls in with live traffic reports.Also an established Barbarian who is a contender in S&R'S very popular annual Barbaric Cup contest.
  • Rehab Jerry- A good guy who calls from rehab/halfway house.Has been known to fall off the wagon like the infamous time he went to a wedding and disappeared for a month.Always ends his calls with "Barbaric"
  • Sean in Hamburg - A smart caller who knows more about wrestling than the founder of WWE.

  • Moo at the Canadians - simple and straightforward. They'd call a Canadian and moo at them. Listeners would call and guess if the Canadian would moo back. No one ever mooed back. Then they'd call someone in the US and they'd immediately moo back proving Canadians were not as stupid as Americans who thought cows were calling them.
  • Shredd and Ragan Theater - recreations of current and past moments in history. Favorites include a Christmas recreation where Mrs. Claus starred in a gangbang flick for cash, a recurring bit about Erie County Executive Joel Giambra
