 karate, shita tsuki begins with a clenched fist in hikite, with the inside turning upwards. It is then thrust forward into the opponent's solar plexus, keeping the elbow close to the chest. At the end of the technique, the inside of the fist points upwards, the elbow is bent in a 90 degree angle, and the opponent is hit with seiken.
