. It was formerly a popular place due to being located near the River Severn

 which at this point offers a walk with scenic views of the Severn Bridge

 a few miles away and the Oldbury power station. However, the new owners of the former pub ('The Windbound') no longer encourage parking there, and other parking provision in the narrow lanes around is very limited.

The church of St Mary at Sheppardine is a tin structure in the middle of a field. It is tiny with a board interior.

Nuclear power plant project

As of summer 2009 the German power company E.ON

 started to acquire land from local farmers with the intention of constructing of a 3,300 megawatt nuclear power station on the banks of the River Severn. They formed a joint venture with German power company RWE

. The two companies bought the existing Oldbury

and Wylfa Magnox Nuclear Power Stations from the NDA for the sum of £500 million. RWE and Eon have now formed a company called Horizon to proceed with the development.

There is great concern in Shepperdine and its environs that the community will be destroyed—a group called Shepperdine Against Nuclear Energy has been formed to question both The Government and Horizons motives in this matter. However, local residents recognise the need for continuity of supply and the need for alternatives to wasteful use of coal and gas, as well as over-reliance on schemes involving wind and wave power.

In early 2010 e-on and RWE, the German global energy companies, decided to focus their efforts on the Wylfa site in North Wales by delaying planning for the Shepperdine site until 2014.
