Sheffield International Venues (SIV) has grown rapidly over the past 10 years to become one of the largest sport, leisure and entertainment companies in Europe. SIV has established an international reputation for managing complex sporting and entertainment environments while championing community participation and sport development initiatives.

SIV manage a portfolio of venues with an estimated value in excess of £250m. They employ more than 700 staff and attract more than four million customers per year. SIV play a key role in driving community participation.. Among the 14 venues operated by SIV are:

Sport

Don Valley Stadium is one of the UK's largest athletic arenas and also the place which inspired Jessica Ennis to get into the sport.

EIS Sheffield, training ground for Heptathlete Jessica Ennis, the GB Boxing Team and The World Snooker Academy hosted the televised 65th English Open ITTF Pro Tour Major Table Tennis Championships (October 2009) which attracted competitors from over 50 nations.

Ponds Forge is home to the GB diving team and hosts three international and ten national aquatic events annually. The venue hosted the International FINA Diving Series 2009 back in April.

The sports events held in SIV venues during 2008/09 contributed more than £11.5m to the visitor economy across the region.

Concerts

U2 at Don Valley Stadium Sheffield:
Outside London, Don Valley Stadium Sheffield was the only English venue to host U2’s 360 degree tour (August 2009). A crowd of 50,000 people turned out for the concert and they quickly filled the 3,000 hotel bed spaces within the city. The region benefitted from the event by approximately £10m.

The Rolling Stones and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers performed at Don Valley Stadium in 2007. Other acts in previous years include The Spice Girls, Tina Turner and Michael Jackson.

SIV Events

The prestigious and world class venues double up as convenient and unique spaces for hire. SIV Events http://www.sivevents.com was launched in September 2010.

Sheffield City Hall's Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall had a capacity of 2,271 theatre style and Ponds Forge Sheffield can convert into the largest banqueting space in the region, comfortably seating 1,200 diners.

Accolades

2011
Sheffield City Hall won Event Space of the Year - Large at the Event Awards 2011, beating off stiff competition from the Royal Albert Hall and the LG Arena.

Sheffield City Hall has been shortlisted for the Large Venue of the Year category at the 2011 Eventia Awards

SIV Events & Experiences has been nominated for the Business Tourism Award at the regional White Rose Awards 2011

iceSheffield was a finalist at the 2011 Conference Awards for Best Conference Venue - Outside London category

2010
SIV Conferencing & Events was shortlisted for the Business Tourism Award at the Welcome to Yorkshire's White Rose Tourism Awards while Ice Sheffield and Motorpoint Arena scooped the Event of the Year title for hosting the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY) Awards in the Arena and VIP Hospitality gala dinner and post-event party in Ice Sheffield. Both venues were linked by a custom-made walkway for the BBC event with Ice Sheffield's Olympic ice pads / rinks boarded over for an impressive hospitality dinner.

2009
Sheffield City Hall claimed the prestigious Business Tourism Award of the Year at Welcome to Yorkshire’s White Rose Tourism Awards and has consequently been shortlisted for the Enjoy England national awards in 2010. SIV Conferencing & Events is no stranger to success having also scooped a double award win earlier this year at the Yorkshire Business Insider Awards for Large Venue of the Year and the overall Grand Prix Prize.
