Construction problems

During construction of Line 4, part of the tunnel that was under construction close to the Huangpu River collapsed on July 1, 2003. This caused a six-storey building to collapse, and several other buildings in the neighborhood had to be evacuated. No casualties were reported, but the incident caused the completion of the metro line to be delayed for almost a year. Construction has been completed, and the section from Damuqiao Road
