Shahin Farhat is a prolific Iranian composer studied in the University of Tehran where he got bachelor's degree in music, later he studied with the well-known American composer Ezea Laderman in the state University of New York in Binghamton, where he got his master's degree in composition.

He continued his post graduation works in the University of Strasbourg in France. His doctorate thesis was about the works of Iranian composers.

Farhat is a professor and the head of the department of music in University of Tehran.
