Present day Shahdara is a busy town with a major market and stalls. It has two parts, an old town and a new town. It has its own railway station that links it to other cities. The M-2 Motorway, and N-5 GT Road pass through it, linking Lahore to northern Pakistan

. The most famous area in Shahdara Bagh is Mahmood Shaheed Road (Lajpat Road) which is located near the Shadara Bagh Railway Station.
