Shaadi.com claims to have the highest number of users and successful matches (822,073 as of 2009 and over 1.3 million as of 2011) in the online matrimonial market and competes with BharatMatrimony.com and Jeevansathi.com4.Shaadi.com was founded by Anupal Mittal and People Group in 1997. The site, much like a dating website but for marriages, permits individuals to post their profiles and responses including horoscope, caste, language and religion.According to founder Mittal, in 2000 some 30% of the site members were from the Indian diaspora.
