 on Luzon Island, against the advancing Japanese troops, with the instruction to delay the Japanese troops so that the airplanes of the Allied forces at Carmen Airport could take off.

Severino Bredonia and his detachment fought gallantly to defend the Carmen Bridge, but because of insufficient weapons and ammunition, and the large contingent of attacking Japanese troops, he and his command were overpowered, and were caught, with some of them killed in action. Those who survived and were caught, were later executed. Severino Bredonia, after he was told to crawl at gunpoint from the Municipal Hall of Sto. Tomas' Pangasinan to the foot of Carmen Bridge, was ordered to dig a fox hole. After digging the foxhole, his hands were tied by the Japanese troops behind his back, and he was stabbed with a bayonet into the back by Japanese soldiers, with the Japanese commander shooting him in the head, with the fox hole serving as his grave.
