The mission of the Second Judicial Circuit is to protect rights and liberties, uphold & interpret the law, and provide for the peaceful resolution of disputes in the six counties of the circuit.

Florida's Second Judicial Circuit serves Franklin,Gadsden,Jefferson,Leon,Liberty, and Wakulla Counties. Servicing a population of over 338,000 the Circuit has sixteen circuit judges and ten county court judges who are managed by the chief judge, with a population of over 338,000. This circuit, which is one of 20 for the state, has sixteen circuit judges and ten county court judges.

The Second Judicial Circuit is administered by the chief judge. The chief judge is responsible to the chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court for the administration and supervision of the courts, judges, and officers of the courts within the judicial circuit. The chief judge is responsible for developing and implementing a plan for the efficient operation of the courts that provides for the prompt disposition of cases, assignment of judges and staff, control of dockets, regulation and use of courtrooms and review of the status of inmates in local jails.
