Played for Sebastian River High School in 2002-2003. Transferred to Palm Bay High School before his senior year in the summer of 2003. Started as quarterback for the USA Today No. 3 ranked Palm Bay High School Pirates in 2003. In 2004, Wideberg was the ace of a Pirate's pitching staff that went 23-7. Palm Bay fell to Jacksonville Wolfson High School 1-0 in eight innings in the regional final championship on May 18, 2004.
