 area. He killed himself after police caught up to him following a botched robbery which led to a shootout. The number of robberies, 18 in total, and the amounts stolen, almost $2.3 million, make Scurlock one of the most prolific bank robbers in the history of the United States. His accomplices, Steven Paul Meyers and Mark John Biggins, were each sentenced to 21 years imprisonment.
