History

The program is believed to have officially become known as Science in Action in 1964. It replaced an earlier show called Science and Industry which was started in the 1950s.

From September 1965 there was a short-lived series on the Home Service

 at 7.30pm on Thursdays, moving to 9.30pm. From December 1965 it moved to 2.30pm on Fridays.

From 7 July 1979 it started on the World Service on Saturdays.

Structure

The host is Jon Stewart. Stewart spent five years at BBC Radio 1

It is repeated five times - three times on Friday and on Saturday morning and Monday morning.
