Following the digital success of her debut song, Sugawara released her debut single Ano Hi no Yakusoku on September 30, 2009. On September 3, 2009, at the Final Fantasy XIII premiere, it was announced that she would perform its theme song, Kimi ga Iru Kara. Composed by Masashi Hamauzu

, in December 2010, Sugawara embarked on a mini live tour titled "Close To You" in late February 2011, with performances at Club Quattro in Shinsaibashi on February 25 and Nagoya's E.L.L. on March 2, finally, the final tour took place in Akasaka on March 4, 2011. Over 1,000 fans packed into Akasaka Blitz for the final concert of the tour.
