White, a centre, was born in Sydney, New South Wales and claimed a total of 7 international rugby caps for Australia.

state side in 1953, aged just 19. He played in both tests during the 1956 South Africa rugby union tour of Australia and New Zealand
and was selected in the squad for the Australia national rugby union team
for the 1957–58 Australia rugby union tour of Britain, Ireland and France and played in three Test matches of the tour, before being injured and carried off in the match against Scotland
. He played a further two Test Matches against the New Zealand Maoris
in 1958.
After injury and his time with the Wallabies, White played a season with Sydney's Lane Cove Rugby Club. Following his rugby career, he worked as a lecturer in surgery at the University of Newcastle.
