Burmeister received the 2006 Australian Film Institute Award for "Best Guest or Supporting Actress in a Television Series" for her performance in episode 493 of Blue Heelers and in 2005 she was nominated for the "Best Lead Actress" Australian Film Institute Award for her performance in Hating Alison Ashley. In 2008 she was nominated for a Film Critics Circle of Australia
