Bose, in her book, Anatomy of Violence: Analysis of Civil War in East Pakistan in 1971, claims allegations of casualties and rape, were greatly exaggerated for political purposes. Her views have been criticized strongly by various historians, especially in Bangladesh and India. A number of scholars and first-hand witnesses have shown inaccuracies in her work and have claimed her methodology as flawed. Some of her cited authors have claimed that she never spoke to them, while others suggest she completely misrepresented the referenced sources.
