Samuel Bunch was an American politician that represented Tennessee
's second district in the United States House of Representatives
. He was born on December 4, 1786 in Grainger County, Tennessee. He attended the public schools and engaged in agricultural
pursuits. He served in the Creek War
as captain of a company
of mounted riflemen under General Jackson
and participated in the attack on Hillibeetown on November 18, 1813. He was sheriff
of Grainger County for several years.
He was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress and re-elected as an Anti-Jacksonian to the Twenty-fourth Congress. He served as a U.S. Representative from March 4, 1833 to March 3, 1837. He resumed agricultural pursuits and died on his farm near Rutledge, Tennessee
on September 5, 1849. He was interred
in a private cemetery on his farm.
