After the death of Bo's son, Drew Buchanan, Bo entered into a depression and Nora was desperate to give him a reason to live. She lied that she was pregnant, but believed Bo was sterile so she turned to Sam. Lindsay knew the truth, and publicly announced the affair, causing a break up between Bo and Nora, but Sam stayed by her side and the two grew close.

During a snowstorm, Nora went into labor and Sam rushed her to the hospital. She gave birth to a son, Matthew
