Expansion

Network Rail recognise that Salford Crescent has been the "victim of its own success" and the tiny station cannot cope with current levels of patronage, leading to platform overcrowding.

The report suggests development/expansion of the station (with extra platforms), even greater use of it as an interchange and possibly use as a terminus for services from the East of Manchester. It also raises the possibility of relocating the station.
