Saeed Mohammad Khan, NI(M), SBt, is now-retired 4-star rank naval officer and the 12 Chief of Naval Staff (CNS)
of the Pakistan Navy

In 1984, he was promoted to Rear-Admiral and was made Commander Pakistan Fleet (COMPAK). Before taking over as Chief of Naval Staff, Saeed M. Khan, as Vice-Admiral, stayed as Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) and was responsible for the Naval warfare exercise and command structure of the Navy. As Vice-Admiral, S.M. Khan served as the Chairman Pakistan National Shipping Corporation
(PNSC) from November 11, 1988 from December 13, 1990. He is a recipient of Nishan-i-Imtiaz
(Military), which is awarded to all the services chiefs upon taking over their respective commands and Sitara-e-Basalat, a non-operational award.

Naval career
Khan was born on October 1, 1944, and he is the last of 4 children. He joined the Navy at age 16 in 1954. Having joined the Navy as non-commissioned officer, he progressively elevated the ranks. He gained commissioned in the Navy in 1958, in Naval Operations Branch. Khan actively participate in Indo-Pakistani Wars and battles and, due to his heroic action, he was dubbed "The Beast of the Sea", by his senior commanders.
