He was the Chief of Ordnance Section of the 116th Division in 1939, before being appointed the Commanding Officer of the 80th Regiment in 1940. He became the Commanding Officer of Okayama Regimental District in 1944, before being placed in command of the Infantry Group of the 20th Division in New Guinea. He was later in command of Miyake Force, New Guinea, before surrendering at the end of World War II
