Sacred Mother Tongue is a 4-piece British metal band from Northampton initially formed in 2004. The current line up (since 2008) consists of Darrin South (Vocals), Andy James (Guitar), Josh Gurner (Bass) and Lee Newell (Drums).
The band has performed at music festivals throughout the UK including Download Festival
2009, 2011, and Sonisphere Festival
2010 where Bass player Josh Gurner leapt off the stage, climbing a 2 storey Jagermeister bar to play to the crowd before heading into the pit into what fans on the internet have dubbed 'The Joshpit' gaining the band positive reviews in the music press.
Metal Hammer Magazine has called them "The most convincing young British Metal band to emerge in a long time".
Sacred Mother Tongue played at The Roadmender, Northampton as part of their "Homecoming Gig" along side fellow Northampton bands Sons of Betrayal and death metal band Held Beneath as well as Luton based band Imicus.They have also supported Lamb of God.
They are due to headline a UK tour in April 2011 in the lead up to the release of their as yet untitled follow up album to "The Ruin of Man", which will be the first album written entirely by the current line up.

was released in 2009 and a follow up album is reportedly in the process of being written.
