Sabbu is a program used to "time" subtitles. Timing means setting start and end times for a piece of text that will appear in a video. For example, when a video has been translated into a different language the result is just text. Before the translation can be shown in a video, it must be timed so that the proper translation appears when the original line is spoken. First public release (beta version) was announced on September 10, 2004.

On July 9, 2006, at 20:12:01 (GMT), the developer kryptolus announced on the IRC channel that the program was indefinitely discontinued:
"Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have any time I will be able to dedicate to sabbu. So I guess sabbu can now be considered no longer maintained."
