History

Saba means "knowing" in many languages. Bobby Yazdani, Saba founder and CEO, chose this name when he founded the company in 1997. Saba Learning was the first product; since then, Saba has expanded its product line into a unified suite of People Cloud Applications delivered as software-as-a-service. Saba went public in April 2000. It acquired THINQ Learning Solutions in May 2005, Centra Software in 2006 and Pedagogue Solutions and Comartis in June 2011.

In addition to its headquarters in Redwood Shores, California, Saba has offices on five continents. In July 2011, Saba added two prominent technology industry veterans to its Board of Directors: Michael Abbott, vice president of engineering for Twitter, and Mike Fawkes, operating partner for VantagePoint Capital Partners.

Since becoming CEO, Yazdani has grown Saba into a US$100 million business.
