SWX Europe, formerly virt-x (virt-x Exchange Limited), is an electronic cross-border share trading platform. It is operating since 1995 as TRADEPOINT in the UK. It was bought in 2001, and late in 2002 became the subject of a takeover offer by the Swiss exchange, SWX
, and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of that group.
As an RIE (Recognised Investment Exchange) based in London, it is supervised by the UK's Financial Services Authority
(FSA).
In early 2008, virt-x formally changed its name to SWX Europe.
As of 30 April 2009, SWX Europe ceased trading and all business was transferred to SIX Swiss Exchange.
