, USA. It is home to 44 degree programs in the arts and humanities, as well as in the social and natural sciences. CAS courses are held in buildings across the SIUE campus. In fall 2009 it was announced that after more than 10 years of requesting money from lawmakers in the state of Illinois to build a new science building, funding was set aside for the project. Nearly $80 million was promised to the University by the Illinois General Assembly as part of the Illinois Jobs Now bill. A groundbreaking for the new building took place in Dec. 2009. The project currently is under construction.
