It was designed for videoconferencing, and thus optimized for the office landscape of bright, fluorescent lighting.

The IndyCam was superseded by the Moosecam, or 02cam.

The IndyCam enjoys continued use among a small group of SGI hobbyists, who enjoy pushing its limits, using modern image-processing tools to make up for the poor source material.
