Sarath Kumar is a professional motorcycle
road racer
and a national champion in the 125cc class. Sarath began his already stellar career in with the Ten10 Racing Team now the WTR-Ten10 Racing
team and will compete in the 125cc class in the 2011 MotoGP.
Through a two-year journey of mostly ups, he is now all set to compete in the 125cc class in the 2011 MotoGP.
In September 2009 Sarath entered the FIM UAM Indian round of the Asia GP championship as a wildcard entry in the “Honda Stunner” class and finished seventh and eighth amidst International riders.
In January 2010 Sarath won the Indian 4-stroke “up to 165cc Open class” during the MECO Endurance Race, which lasted for 90 minutes non-stop, and was adjudged as the best rider of the day.
During the MRF International Challenge 2010, Kumar finished first overall in the “Yamaha 135cc one-make underbone class” and second overall in the “Group D – 4-stroke Up to 165cc Open class” in the MRF International Challenge 2010.
He also attended the “California Superbike School” by Keith Code at the MMSC Track, Chennai, India in February 2010 due to the Madras Motor Sports Club offering a free seat for the 4-day training program as an effort to coach young talent.
In August 2010 Kumar participated in the FIM UAM Asia GP Indian Championship round as a wild card entry in the “Honda Stunner” class and finished fourth and fifth even with International riders in the mix.
Based on his performance during the FIM UAM Asia GP (Indian round), the “Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) offered Kumar a sponsored entry for the Japan round of the UAM championship - a very rare occurrence at such an early stage in a moto racer's career. He finished seventh and eighth overall during both the races amidst International riders and also set the second fastest laptime at the circuit for the class – 1:54.3.
He currently leads the championship in the “Indian experts – 130 to 165cc 4-stroke – fully modified Group B class”. Sarath set the fastest laptime to have been clocked by any Indian motorcycle during all rounds - his inclination to set records once again brought to the forefront.

Education
Sarath completed his secondary schooling from the Tamil Nadu Open university in 2008 and is currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Business Management (BBM) through the Madras Open University.Career
Sarath started racing as a privateer for the first time on a TVS Apache 150 – 4 stroke in the “TVS Race a bike scheme class” during the JK Junior Championship – summer cup 2008 and finished second in both races. He then joined TVS Racing (TVS factory team) in its debut year and bagged the National Champion title for the year 2008 in the “up to 130 cc 4-stroke” novice class.Through a two-year journey of mostly ups, he is now all set to compete in the 125cc class in the 2011 MotoGP.
Achievements
In 2009 Sarath joined Ten10 Racing India Pvt Ltd during the 3rd round and competed in the “Up to 165 cc 4-stroke Open class”.
