Career

A member of the Scatchoon tribe in Kaposvár, Waltner had never seen a football match before the age of 13 due to the tribe's rules on sporting entertainment. Waltner was first seen by scouts aged 15 playing park lacrosse, he even represented Hungary in the U16 Lacrosse Championships at the time.

Waltner's controversial move to Argentina's Boca Juniors was allegedly the result of a trade agreement between Hungary and Argentina relating to aluminium dumping. His nickname among Argentinian fans was "El Carros", or "The Small Cart" due to his workmanlike nature.
