and Jørpeland
in the municipality of Strand
. The target is a part of the Norwegian main land but without road connection to the rest of the world. Access to the national road network is granted through three different state subsidised ferry connections where Tau-Stavanger is the most significant.
The total permanent population benefiting from this is in the order of 25 000 - 30 000. Because of the high per capita
cost, an alternative bridge crossing across Høgsfjord
between Forsand
and Lauvik has been proposed, but despite a cost of a quarter of Ryfast or less, this has not caught any momentum in Stavanger.
