Ryan started his career at middleweight

. Thomas defeated McClintock by TKO in the first round to receive a rematch with Askren. In that fight on May 20th, Askren came out victorious again with a unanimous decision in 3 rounds.

Thomas eventually faced Wallhead on October 14, 2010 at Bellator 32. He lost the fight via unanimous decision.
