Roxio branded products are sold online, through over 15,000 retail outlets, to organizations through volume license agreements and pre-loaded onto OEM PC's and devices. Roxio's primary product, Roxio Creator, is a PC application suite for creating digital media (video, photo, music) projects to save on a PC, burn to CD/DVD and/or share online. Roxio Toast offers similar functionality on the Mac but is more narrowly focused on CD/DVD burning and a variety of digital media related utility functions. Roxio also offers products for data back-up and recovery.
In April 2008 Sonic acquired Simple Star which added Roxio PhotoShow online services to the product line. In late 2008 the company acquired CinemaNow

CinemaNow

 which was also added to the Roxio branded product line. The brand "CinemaNow" was then sold to Best Buy who now uses that name for their online storefront. The company formally known as CinemaNow is now part of the Roxio branding and is known as "RoxioNow". Offering is managed by the company's Premium Content Group which also offers software products serving major motion picture studios as well as major consumer electronics companies.

Prior to its acquisition by Sonic, Roxio operated an independent company that was created from the 2001 spin-off of Adaptec
