Senior Hurling
Club Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association
club competition between the top teams of Roscommon Clubs. Since 2007 the winners of the Roscommon Championship winners qualify to represent their county in the Connacht Intermediate Club Hurling Championship
, with the winners going on to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship
. Prior to competing in this competition, the Roscommon champions competed in the Connacht Senior Club Hurling Championship
from its inception in 1970/71.
Four Roads are the current champions, defeating Athleague in the 2011 decider. Their latest win marked the first occasion in which a club captured a four titles in a row.
Four Roads (Tisrara) lead the Roll of Honour with 29 titles (last won 2011), followed by Roscommon Gaels with 21 titles (last won in 1970). In the past Roscommon Gaels competed as St. Comans and Roscommon Town, while St. Dominics previously competed as St. Patricks.
Ballygar (Co Galway) participated in the championship from the 1920s, winning two titles in 1930 & 1985, before transferring back to Galway after 1994. Since 1998, seven clubs compete in the championship, namely: Athleague, Four Roads, Oran, Pádraig Pearses, Roscommon Gaels, St. Dominics & Tremane.
