s. That, and danger of avalanches on the road near the bridge, has led to plans for a new bridge, a long suspension bridge straight across the fjord from Narvik to Øyjord. The new bridge will save some driving distance and time as well. But the new bridge will be expensive, and it is still uncertain if the new bridge will actually be built.
