detection equipment.

Rocky Mountain Radar was founded in the early 1990s in Colorado by Michael Churchman. Their early models included the Spirit, Eclipse and Illusion. They also did OEM work and made a model called the Barrier RDR.

In the mid to late 1990s they offered the Spirit II, Phazer and Phantom (which combined a detector and scrambler). The only other company producing a passive radar scrambler during that timeframe was the now defunct Phantom Technologies Inc. which produced the Mirage 2001 and Mirage 7000 (and did OEM work providing the same unit for a company called The Watchful Eye). The Spirit II was the subject of FCC scrutiny in the late 1990s and declared illegal. Around this time the Phazer was highly marketed and became what was probably the company's most popular product. Following this Rocky Mountain Radar began marketing radar detectors made in Korea by Attowave under their brand. They then released models such as the Phantom II, Phazer II, RMR-C302, Black Widow remote system and others.

Most recently they have marketed the Phazer 3, the RMR-8RD/RDS remote system (which offers attachments such as the Laser Stik laser jamming heads), the RMR-C435, RMR-C450 and most recently the RMR-C475 which incorporates a text display. They have also introduced KAT models which do away with the radar scrambler portion. According to the company's website systems for truckers and motorcycles are going to be released soon.

Recently the FCC declared the RMR-C450 to be illegal. In testing by RadarTest.com in 2003, it was found that their "scrambling" or "jamming" ability is completely ineffective against police radar.
