Cohen earned her B.F.A. in dance from the Juilliard School
in 1998. After roles in several musicals on the East Coast, she moved to Los Angeles, California
in search of film and television roles.
Once in L.A. she appeared in episodes of Angel

. In addition to her role in The Life Aquatic, she was seen in Fool's Gold, a low-budget independent film
