 in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. In 2002, Róbert Vass was elected President of the Euro-Atlantic Center, Slovak youth NGO dealing with security and international relations. He was re-elected 3 times and all that time he was leading team of 10 young professionals and dozens of others in broader membership. He was in charge of organizing number of international security projects all containing Euro- Atlantic aspect.

Under Robert Vass's leadership, Euro- Atlantic Center became an important pillar of Slovak NGO community. In 2004, the UN Information Service in Vienna chose Mr. Vass as a temporary Slovakia representative. Later, Mr. Vass was elected Chairman of the Slovak Atlantic Commission (2006) and its Secretary General (2008). Slovak Atlantic Commission chaired by Robert Vass was reorganized and it has established two stable offices both in Bratislava and Banska Bystrica. With Slovakia's accession to NATO, the Slovak Atlantic Commission became also exclusive member of the international Atlantic Treaty Association.

During all his professional engagement in Slovak security community and NGO sphere he has been a big supporter of Slovak integration to EU and NATO. His commitment to transatlanticism was reflected in starting of a tradition of organizing international GLOBSEC conferences and issuing magazine Euro- Atlantic Quarterly, both international security-oriented.
