Undergraduate and Graduate years

He is a magna cum laude graduate of Virginia Union University. He received a Bachelor's Degree from there in 924. Daniel received a Master's Degree in education in 1928 and a PhD in educational psychology from Columbia University in 1932.

Career

He taught as a Mathematics professor at Virginia Union University (1923 to 1925) and taught English and education a few years later. At Virginia Union University he was also professor of education and psychology and the director of the Extension Division (1928 to 1936). In 1935 he was employed as visiting professor at Hampton Institute in Virginia. He became the president of Shaw University in North Carolina in 1936. He remained there until 1950, when he became President of Virginia State College. He remain president there until he died in 1968.

Membership

Daniel was a Baptist minister, member of the American Psychological Association, member of the National Association for the Study of Negro Life, American Teachers Association, National Education Association, and Conference of Presidents of Negro Land Grant Colleges.
