He is author of numerous books on auditing and taxation including Auditing Theory and Practice, a bestseller originally published in 1912 which has since gone through at least 11 editions. He received the AICPA's Gold Medal Award in 1949. In 1950, he was inducted into the Accounting Hall of Fame
