. Todd began his career by teaching at Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho) for eight years. After this he worked for ten years in senior technical and management positions for General Motors

He then joined the faculty of BYU in 1989. He developed BYU's mechanical engineering capstone program which was begun in 1990. Among other assignments at BYU, Todd has served as the coach of the Formula SAE

Todd wrote the Manufacturing Processes Reference Guide along with Dell K. Allen
