Robert Carl Suggs is an American archaeologist and anthropologist.

Work History

Robert Suggs has written a number of books including The Archaeology of New York, The Archaeology of San Francisco, Modern Discoveries in Archaeology, academic articles, and is best known for his ethnography-backed archaeological investigations in the Marquesas Islands. He was a student of H. L. Shapiro at the American Museum of Natural History in the 1950s, and was educated at Columbia University.

Suggs is best known for his work on Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas Islands.

Today he leads private tours and is a speaker on the cruise ship Aranui.
