Rick McGinnis

Rick McGinnis is a writer and was previously a columnist for Metro newspapers across Canada. He wrote a sardonic daily TV column called Idiot Box http://www.metronews.ca/toronto/columnist/1340 along with DVD reviews, restaurant reviews, entertainment features and even recaps of reality shows. His daily television column was cancelled in early 2009 when Metro laid off all of its writers http://www.rrj.ca/online/819/. He is currently a freelance writer whose work appears in Metro and t.o.night newspapers, as well as blogto.com and the National Post.

In the spring of 2009, he began appearing as a regular on the monthly arts and culture panel on Michael Coren's current affairs show on the CTS network.

Rick is also an accomplished photojournalist, whose work has appeared in Metro, Now magazine, Toronto Life, the National Post, Globe & Mail and many other publications. He has shot a number of album covers, including several for jazz musician Jane Bunnett and Gordon Lightfoot's 1993 album Waiting For You
